I am thinking about switching to linux, and I wonder if anyone has any experience in running Warcraft 3 under WINE or something ?

Using cracked EXE isn't an option though.

Pure pain, install two systems and switch between them depending on what you want to do (linux=work, windows=fun and photoshop).

Like all Blizzard games, its absolutely no Problem getting WarCraft III running with Linux.
It works perfect (!!) with Wine and also Cedega. (i recommend wine since its free xD)

There is no need for a cracked Exe (if u have the wc3 cd) and even updating through battle.net is no problem at all.

I use the latest ubuntu and i dont even have to use the command line for anything. i dont know how it is with other distros ....

if u have any problems or questions plz dont hesitate to ask them

though blizzard games are very Linux friendly (or just well programmed? ) there are some third party apps with some problems:

For analysing my Replays i use W3GMaster.exe. and it works, but the menues are a bit buggy. nothing too bad, but just a little bit annoying sometimes.

Since Waaaghtv has a Webclient, its no problem at all to watch games with it.

I couldnt get GGClient and Banlist (for dota games) running. but ive read at the banlist homepage that there are plans for a java version of banlist. but i dont know when it comes.

i know several people who use WarCraft 3 with Wine and none of them has any problem.
in fact, if u consider that u cant be infiltrated by spy / adware or viruses, i think its save to say that battle.net (and internet apps in general) work much better with linux
